Into the Millennium at Sphere was an exciting milestone for VOLT. Supporting Backstreet Boys early in the venue’s history gave us a rare opportunity to help shape a new kind of live entertainment experience inside one of the most technologically advanced venues in the world.
The Backstreet Boys’ creative team pushed the boundaries of the Sphere’s capabilities, exploring new ways to integrate lighting, media, and performance at an unprecedented scale. Being part of that exploration allowed VOLT to contribute to a show that expanded what was possible in the space and set a new creative benchmark.
A standout element of the lighting design was the use of Acme Tornado fixtures. With their distinctive visual profile, Silent House’s design team transformed the Tornado into a signature element of the show. The fixtures traced the flowing curves of the stage structure and framed the entire lower edge of the Sphere’s media plane, creating a cohesive visual language that defined the look of the production.
The Acme Tornado was a newer addition to VOLT’s inventory, selected specifically for its bold aesthetic and versatility. By investing early in this fixture, VOLT was able to support a design-forward approach that delivered something fresh and impactful—demonstrating how a carefully curated fixture choice can shape an entire lighting narrative.
