VOLT designed and integrated the lighting system for CBS’s new AR/VR weather and news stage, once of the most advanced in broadcast production. This innovative studio transforms how weather and news stories are presented by immersing viewers in dynamic 3D environments. Meteorologists can now use the entire studio as a creative canvas to visualize clouds, winds patterns, and storm systems in real time.
The stage features a full 360 degree green screen across the walls and floor, enabling virtual scenery and visual elements to interact naturally with on-camera talent. VOLT designed a lighting system that supports the unique requirements of this immersive environment.
VOLT worked closely with the CBS production team to select fixtures that met all technical and creative specifications. VOLT’s scope also included designing the back-end data distribution to integrate with the facility’s infrastructure, providing remote configuration and control across the entire system.
The result is a robust lighting solution that enhances the storytelling and viewer experience.
